The 47th ANPAD Annual Meeting – EnANPAD 2023 occured from September 26 to 28, at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, São Paulo, Brazil with the central theme “Rigor, relevance, and impact in management research”.

Academic research is a cornerstone of modern society, driving innovation, and pushing the boundaries of knowledge. In recent years, the subject of integrity in research has been rising, in particular in the matter of scientific production and its challenges. And so, the EnANPAD 2023 central theme was “Rigor, relevance, and impact in management research”, for these are essential factors for scientific research.

Rigor refers to the thoroughness, accuracy, and precision of research. This means ensuring that research is based on a sound theoretical foundation, using appropriate research methods, and analyzing data carefully and objectively. Rigorous research is essential for ensuring that the findings are reliable and can be replicated, which is a cornerstone of the scientific method.

Relevance is the degree to which research addresses current or future needs, questions, or problems. Relevant research should be grounded in real-world issues and address significant and meaningful problems.

The impact is the degree to which research can make a difference in the world through advancing knowledge or solving practical problems. Impactful research can inspire new directions of investigation, influence public policy, improve the quality of life for individuals, or contribute to the greater good of society. In order to have an impact, research must be accessible and understandable to a broad audience, including other researchers, policymakers, and the general public.

All three of these factors - rigor, relevance, and impact - are critical for producing high-quality academic research. While they may sometimes seem at odds with each other, they are all necessary for research to be valuable, effective, and impactful. By ensuring that research is rigorous, impactful, and relevant, we can advance our understanding of the world, contribute to solving important problems, and help make a positive difference in people's lives.

We invited all members of our community to participate and engage in the debates of interest in the field of administration.
