Prof. Torruella has a degree in Economic Sciences (UAB), a postgraduate in Data Analysis for Social Sciences (Essex University), and doctor in Political Science and Administration (UAB). He has completed research periods at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge; as well as he has participated in Congresses and Seminars and taught courses in various Universities and academic institutions in Spain, Europe, and Latin America. He has developed his teaching and research activity in the fields of public management, local government, citizen participation, and public policy analysis. In a more informative format, he published the book “Es la Política, Idiotas” (It's Politics, Idiots). He also acted as the General Director of Citizen Participation in the Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya (2004-2008), director of the Institute of Government and Public Policies (IGOP) of the UAB (2009-2014), and president of the Spanish Association of Political Science (AECPA) (2015-2017). He is currently a Professor of Political Science and Administration at the University of Girona, where he directs the Sectoral Campus for Cohesion and Social Responsibility.
